Volleyball falls in three sets to start season

The Chico State volleyball team fell to Seattle Pacific in three sets on Thursday night to open the 2014 season. Scores were 25-12, 25-22, 25-17.

In the first set, the ‘Cats were up 3-2 until the Falcons made a run to go up 16-8. The eventually took the first set 25-12.

Throughout the second set both teams battled back and forth but the Wildcats couldn’t outlast the Falcons and went down 25-22. The third set was more of the same, with Seattle Pacific ending up on top.

Leading the way for Chico State was junior outside hitter Shannon Boling with eight kills. Senior Lindsay Quigley and sophomore Natalie Nordahl both added seven kills. Sophomore Torey Thompson had 27 assists.

The ‘Cats continue play today away against Dixie State at 3 p.m.
