The Chico State women’s golf team shot a 315 as a team to finish 10th at the Western New Mexico Intercollegiate Championship played in Avondale, Arizona. After posting their best team round of the season in Monday’s first round the Wildcats fell three spots in the 16-team event.

The Wildcats were led by a top-20 finish from freshman Ileana MacDonald, who shot an even par 72 and the third best round of the day. After getting off to a rough start, playing her first seven holes in 4-over par, the freshman righted the ship to shoot a 33 on her second nine and post a score of even par on the day and climb to a tie for 14th individually.

Dani O’Keefe followed her strong opening round 73 with a solid final round score of 76 Tuesday including an eagle on the par-4 15th hole. However an error on her scorecard resulted in O’Keefe being disqualified from the tournament, keeping O’Keefe from posting a top-15 finish individually.

Abby McGrew finished the tournament in 43rd place with a two-day score of 156 after shooting a final round 80. Bianca Armanini carded a final round 80 to finish the tournament at 12-over par 156, good for a 74rd place finish. Spencer Downer finished the tournament tied for 60th after posting an 83 in her final round Tuesday.

Cal Baptist posted a two-day score of 11-over par 587 to claim a double digit victory over second place finisher Point Loma Nazarene. Leina Kim of Colorado State-Pueblo shot back to back rounds in the 60s to finish 11-under after two rounds and claim the individual title.
