The true Spirit of India will be coming to Chico this Friday, Oct. 2. For their first tour in the United States, the Bollywood Masala Orchestra and dancers of India will be performing at Laxson Auditorium.

Rahis Bartis, one of India’s greatest musical figures, will be sharing the music, dancers and spirituality that showcase India.

When: Friday, Oct. 2, 7:30-9 p.m.

Ages: All ages

Tickets: $38 Premium, $30 Adult, $28 Senior, $18 Youth and $10 Students

With 17 professional artists on the stage, viewers will surely get in the spirit of India. A wide variety of instruments including dholak (drum like instrument), tabla (similar to bongos) and clarinet demonstrate the heritage.

The Bollywood Masala Orchestra will be playing a wide variety of music from traditional sounds to more contemporary, while also playing some of the most popular Bollywood music today.

At first I was excited about the Bollywood Masala Orchestra to come to Chico, but my feelings are now up in the air after asking for an interview via email and only receiving negative responses back. Instead of having my questions answered, I was told to refer to another webpage that apparently could answer my questions better than the general director.

The first impression was not the best it could have been. Nevertheless I’m excited for the performance to change my mind.
