Women’s basketball team loses to Cal State East Bay 45-69

The Chico State women’s basketball team lost its second consecutive CCAA game against the Cal State East Bay Pioneers 45-69 on Dec. 5.

The team now sits at 4-2 overall and remains winless at 0-2 in CCAA conference play. The team ranks 11th overall in the conference.

First Quarter– The Wildcats led for most of the first quarter, going up by six midway through. With just under two minutes left, the ‘Cats had a 17-9 lead, but ended the quarter up by five points.

Second Quarter– The Pioneers would answer in a big way. Four minutes into the quarter, Cal State East Bay made its first lead of the game up 19-18. The ‘Cats were outscored 10-19 heading into halftime down 26-35 to the Pioneers.

Third Quarter– The ‘Cats would watch the Pioneers separate themselves even more, increasing their lead by 18 points. The ‘Cats could not find an answer, ending the quarter down 39-54.

Fourth Quarter– Cal State East Bay would remain in control for the rest of the game. Chico State was down by 21 just three minutes into the last quarter and would not come within 20 points of the Pioneers’ lead for the rest of the game. The Pioneers cruised to a 69-45 win, handing Chico State its second loss in a row.

Senior Brooke Bowen- 7 points, 2 assists, 2 steals

The Chico State women’s basketball team will be on the road once again to face Fresno Pacific University on Dec. 8 in Fresno.
