California Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) came to Chico Thursday to tour Sierra Nevada brewery and to speak at Chico State. Last year De Leon’s clean energy bill, SB 350, was passed in the state senate, bringing about a resolution to reduce California’s fossil fuel emissions by half over the next 15 years.

De Leon’s visit to Chico this week was to survey Sierra Nevada’s sustainability practices and speak to Chico State students about his efforts on the issue. De Leon said the brewery’s practices resembled SB 350 before it became law.

“I think Sierra Nevada is as good as it gets,” De Leon said.
