Willie Latin is a senior runner on the Chico State track and field team. The team has won 13 conference titles in 14 years and Latin has been a big part of the team’s success this year.

How long have you been running track?

I have been running track for about seven years.

What races do you run and how did you do in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championship Tournament?

I run the 400 meter dash and the 200. I’m also on the 4×1 and 4×4 relay teams. I took second in the 400 and the 4×1, and in the 4×4 my team and I took first.

How does it feel to carry on the tradition of such a historically great program?

It’s honestly the greatest feeling in the world. I’m glad to be apart of this championship team and I am happy that I was able to contribute to the tradition of winning.

What are your plans now that your career’s over at Chico State?

The plan now is to graduate from Chico State and to work up here. I also plan on continuing my track and field career and competing in track meets as an unattached runner.

*An unattached runner is someone who runs in college track meets but is not affiliated with a school.
