Wildcats men continue hot streak, women snap losing streak against East Bay

The Wildcats came to play against Cal State East Bay Saturday night winning the women’s game 70-64 and the men following suite with a 70-59 victory .

The women’s team came out on top against Cal State East Bay for the first time since 2013.

They were led by leading scorer Whitney Branham and her 17 points, as well as McKena Barker and her 16 points, nine rebounds, two blocked shots and three steals.

Nate Ambrosini had an explosive first half in the men’s game, scoring the first five points within the first few minutes of the game.

Captain Jalen McFerren had another big game for the Wildcats finishing with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Despite a strong first half, the ‘Cats struggled to maintain their lead in the second half and had a tough time finding good shots.

“We were kinda dead a bit…We gotta do better at not getting complacent and getting that energy up,” McFerren said.

Corey Silverstrom struggled in the first half but was a big reason for his big second half, finishing with a total of 11 points for the game and 9 assists.

McFerren and Malik Duffy were power houses during the second half, allowing the Wildcats to finish with a victory of 70-59 against Cal State East Bay.

Wildcats Nate Ambrosini finished by saying, “It feels great to get the sweep this weekend and get the win tonight.”
