As part of Undocu Week on campus, Chico State welcomed Dr. César A. Cruz to campus Wednesday at Selvester’s Cafe.

Dr. Cruz is the first Mexican immigrant male to receive a doctorate degree from Harvard University. He has been an educator for 23 years and is also the author of two books.

The Cross-Cultural Leadership Center, the Dream Center, the Multicultural and Gender Studies department (MCGS) and Butte College collaborated to bring this event and guest speaker to campus.

The event was put on in hopes of bringing light to certain issues going on around campus.

“After so many years of hoping, there has to be change,” said Lorena Velasquez, Intern Advisor for the Dream Center.

Dr. Cruz presented on how students are able to bring change to campus and create collective solutions to numerous issues that the Hispanic community faces.
