Wildcats achieve Saturday sweep against UC San Diego

The Chico State baseball team swept a doubleheader on the road against UC San Diego Saturday.

 

The 12th-ranked Wildcats had two stellar starting pitching performances from its two starting pitchers, Marcos Lara and Brad Lohse.

 

Lara pitched five and one third shutout innings, allowing only two hits. He received his third win of the season while lowering his ERA to 0.55.

 

The ’Cats got on the scoreboard early, getting three runs in the first inning off hits from Eric Angerer and Connor Huesers.

 

In the second game, Lohse pitched six scoreless innings, giving up four hits while striking out five.

 

The Wildcats improved to 6-2 on the season and 2-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

 

They will return to Nettleton Stadium Friday at 2:00 p.m. for a four game home stand against the Academy of the Arts.
