Sororities, exploring the unfamiliar.

I look nothing like a sorority girl.

I may have the height, but that’s it. I’m not exactly poised or coordinated or anything that makes you think “pageant.”

I love Pokemon and hate the color pink. Group photos make me nauseated, and fundraising sounds like too much work.

“The House Bunny” was all I knew about sororities; that, and the ones at Chico State, who sort of avoid my presence like the plague.

There was this one time that I was going to the ATM near the Bell Memorial Union, and three sorority girls walked past me looking ever-so-serious bitchy. Of course, I stood my ground forcing them to make a way for me. I didn’t care who they were. I was just as important, even if I was a non-Greek GDI (God Damn Independent).

Then I joined a sorority. No, I was shocked too.

But this is no ordinary sorority. It’s filled with hilarious, goofy women who are entertained by my antics.

It’s like a home for women who are talented and beautiful all in their own right.

Then it hit me. The saying “different strokes for different folks” began to make sense.

So maybe I didn’t fit in with girls from other sororities. Maybe this was “The House Bunny” and I was a part of my own special Zeta Alpha Zeta.

These girls love Pokemon, and lucky for me, our color is red.

Maybe I was a sorority girl all along, regardless of looks.

I just wish I had sorority girl money to pay my dues.
