Pioneers pillage ‘Cats

Stretching zero runs to the seventh inning, the Chico State baseball team lost their Friday night home opener against the visiting Cal State East Bay Pioneers.

The game started off scoreless in the first inning. Leading off the second inning, Cal State East Bay squeezed in a run to open up the scoring.

The Pioneers pushed through another run in the fourth to take a 2-0 lead over the ‘Cats.

Chico State still had no answer.

Cal State East Bay scored another run in the sixth inning to extend their lead to three runs. They scored one more run in the eighth inning, capping their scoring at four.

The Wildcats answered back, only scoring a consolation run in the eighth, ending the game down by three.

The ‘Cats ended up losing in their last home opener of the season.
