Women’s basketball team drops semi-final matchup

The Chico State women’s basketball team lost 64-52 Friday to Cal State Dominguez Hills in the semi-finals of the California Collegiate Athletic Association championship tournament.

In the first half, the ‘Cats were rolling on all cylinders up 31-21 at halftime.

In the second half, the problems started to pop up. With 15 minutes left in the game, the Wildcats were up 41-26. Then the Toros went on a 12-0 run. With three minutes left, the tempo changed as the Toros were now leading 58-50. The Wildcats couldn’t bounce back and lost the game 64-52.

Leading the team was junior guard Annie Ward with 17 points. Senior guard Jazmine Miller added 13 points, four assists and three rebounds.

The Wildcats finished CCAA play 18-9 and will find out Sunday if the team is selected to the NCAA tournament.
