    ’Cats finish third in Wildcat Invitational

    Chico’s Canyon Oaks Country Club welcomed the Chico State women’s golf team, among others, to participate in the InterWest Wildcat Invitational.

    The Wildcats finished Monday’s first round in second place with a 37-over par 325.
    On the leaderboard for the ‘Cat’s was senior Sarah McComish carding a 5-over par 77 to place her in second place.

    Heading into the second round, Dani O’Keefe tied for seventh place with an individual score of 9-over par 81.

    Tied for 11th was Bianca Armanini at 11-over par 83, while Abbey McGrew was tied for 16th place at 12-over 84, and Spencer Downey tied for 21st place with a 16-over 86.

    On day two, high speed winds ended
    the ‘Cats wish for first place at the Invitational during Tuesday’s final round. The team settled for third place, shooting a collective 42-over par 330 and a 36-hole total of 79-over 655.

    O’Keefe carded a 5-over par 77 finishing tied for third place. McComish came in with a 10-over par 82, which was her fifth straight top 10 tournament finish of the season.

    Heather Fegley came in 11th place overall, while Downey ended with a shared 18th place. Abbey McGrew carded a 16-over par 88 Tuesday to finish in 20th.

    Finishing in 25th place was Sydney Zink who played her first tournament of the season for the Wildcats. Bianca Armanini, withdrew Tuesday due to illness.

    Chico State will resume play Mar. 24-25 in the Cal State Monterey Bay Spring Invitational.
