Toxicology results for a former student that died St. Patrick’s Day weekend in a car accident revealed that she had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.21.

Sierra Fox, a 24-year-old Chico State alumna, died Saturday March 16 after crashing her car on March 14.

Fox got into the accident on Highway 149 which is between Chico and Oroville, said Butte County Coroner Al Smith.

Fox’s car went off the road and rolled several times, as reported earlier by The Orion.

Fox died from traumatic brain injury from the crash and had a BAC over the legal limit, Smith said.

“It’s pretty close to the amount when she crashed,” he said.

Enloe Medical Center took a blood sample when Fox was admitted to the hospital and the coroner’s office used the sample to conduct an ethyl alcohol test, he said.

Ethyl alcohol is the type of alcohol usually found in alcoholic beverages, he said.

Fox graduated spring 2012 with a degree in business.
