Jeremy Hoptowit, 41, a computer engineering major, died April 17.
Hoptowit first came to Chico State in 1988 and decided to re-enroll in classes after a break from the university, according to an university of public affairs email announcement.
He is survived by his wife and three children.
The family requested that his cause of death not be disclosed, said Joe Wills, Chico State director of public affairs and publications.
Services for Hoptowit will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Chestnut Street.
