<strong>No injuries after a drive-by shooting</strong>

Shots were fired into the building that houses Chico State’s Geological Services Center and North Valley Public Radio at about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday near Main and East First streets.

People were inside the building at the time of the shooting. No one was injured. A car matching the description given to police was pulled over approximately seven minutes later, and the driver and passengers were arrested.

Police arrested Manuel Magallanes, 24, on suspicion of reckless discharge of a firearm into an inhabited building.

Governor signs Veterans Day bill

A bill recently signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger will give Chico State and other California State University students a holiday on Veterans Day next year. The bill requires CSU campuses to observe Veterans Day on Nov. 11.

Should Veterans Day fall on a Saturday, as it does next year, the holiday will be observed on Friday. Should Veterans Day fall on a Sunday, then Monday classes will be canceled the following week. <strong>Blood drive today</strong>

A blood drive will be held between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. today in the library corridor near Siskiyou Hall. Students and staff can donate. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments can be made by calling 898-6156.

Donors must bring either a donor card or photo ID. Other requirements include weighing at least 110 pounds and being older than 17. It is advised to drink plenty of fluids and eat well before donating.<strong>Internship information offered at fair</strong>

Today, students can find information on internships at a fair co-sponsored by the Office of Experimental Education and the Human Resource Management Association. The fair is between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Bell Memorial Union Auditorium.

More than 30 organizations will be represented from the fields of business, engineering, government and nonprofit organizations. Students from all majors are welcome to attend and speak with representatives from companies including Chevron, Hyatt, Target, Enloe Medical Center, Parent Education Network and US AgBank.
