The Chico State men’s soccer team continued its struggles on Sunday, losing to Cal State Stanislaus. The final score of the game was 1-0, in favor of the Warriors.

It did not take long for Cal State Stanislaus to find the back of the net on Sunday afternoon, scoring at the 18:51 mark of the first half through junior midfielder Jose Ramirez.

Ramirez was able to capitalize from an assist by freshman defender Luis Hernandez. The score came after a corner kick across goal by Hernandez, followed by a header from Ramirez that ended up getting deflected off a Chico State defender for the goal.

The goal was Ramirez’ fourth of the season.

Despite being down early, Chico State did not go down easily, finishing the game with four shots on goal, and 16 shots total.

After Sunday’s loss, Chico State now holds a 1-6-1 conference record. The ‘Cats’ only conference victory came on October 10, when they beat Humboldt State, the No. 6 team in the California Collegiate Athletic Association conference standings.

Chico State’s match against Cal State Stanislaus on Sunday marks the last road game in the Wildcats’ schedule.

With only three home games remaining before the conference tournament, Chico State sits at the 11th spot in the standings.

The ‘Cats’ will kick off its their last three games against San Francisco State next Friday.
