The Chico State Wildcats struggled offensively and lost both games of the doubleheader on Saturday to Cal State Monterey Bay.

The Otters beat the ‘Cats 10-0 in the first game of the game, and went on to win 3-1 during the second game.

Through 16 innings of play, the Wildcats had only 11 hits against Cal State Monterey Bay and could not create scoring opportunities in both games. Errors were another part of the problem for the ‘Cats with a total of four across both games.

Junior right-handed pitcher Brad Lohse was on the mound for the first game and had a career high day for strikeouts and retired 11 batters from the third to sixth inning. However, the Otters still scored 10 runs and shut the Wildcats out in the first game of the doubleheader winning 10-0.

Freshman right-handed pitcher Hunter Haworth took over for the Wildcats in the second game of the double header and pitched well, but the ‘Cats still lost 3-1.

The Wildcats came out swinging in the first inning and Andrew Carrillo was able to score, giving the ‘Cats their only lead of the doubleheader.

The Otters scored three runs in the fifth inning and held onto to 3-1 lead for the rest of the game.

A lack of offense and errors were the story of the doubleheader against Cal State Monterey Bay which led to the two losses against the Otters.
