Chico State senior Juan Campos was identified as the driver of the SUV that hit and killed Nickolas Klein on West Seventh and Hazel streets last Saturday night, according to Chico Police Officer Todd Lefkowitz.

No arrest was made.

Lefkowitz said that witnesses had told police that they suspected both Klein and Campos had been drinking before the accident, but it is still unknown.

The department is waiting on toxicology reports from both individuals, which usually take up to two weeks, before moving the investigation further.
