An unknown suspect broke into a house on Willowbrook Way at 1:38 p.m. on Sunday.

The suspect attempted to take property from inside the home, unaware that someone was there.

The resident was lying on his bed and heard noises coming from inside the house. He lifted his head and spotted the suspect who then fled out the back door and hopped the fence.

The suspect headed on foot toward Eighth Avenue and eventually reached Nord Avenue.

    No arrests were made.

To prevent break-ins, University Police Chief John Feeney advises homeowners to keep valuables out of plain sight.

“People should always remember to lock their doors and windows when going out or going to sleep,” Feeney said. “Different crime prevention tools like motion lights to deter people can be helpful as well.”
