The Chico State men’s basketball team remains undefeated on the young season with a 81-67 win over the Academy of Art University on Nov. 24 in San Francisco.
The team improves to 3-0 heading into the Carl’s Jr. Mac Martin Invitational on Nov. 27.
First period– Sophomore guard Robert Duncan would open up the scoring with a three-pointer that gave Chico State the lead and the team would never look back. Midway through the period, the Wildcats would have a six-point lead over the Academy of Art. With just under seven minutes left, a layup by junior Drew Kitchens increased the ‘Cats’ lead 30-17. By the end of the period, the Wildcats would have a 41-30 lead.
Second period– Despite a game that featured 23 Wildcat turnovers, the team would increase its lead to 51-36 with 15 minutes left in the game. The Academy of Art would chip away at Chico State’s lead until it was down to six with two and a half minutes left in the game. The ‘Cats would finish strong, ending the game on a 11-3 run to take the game 81-67.
