Men’s basketball team wins fourth straight game

The Chico State men’s basketball team was able to bring their winning streak to four, and bring their overall record to 16-3, after a 85-50 victory over the Cal State Stanislaus Warriors at home on Saturday, Jan 30.

The win brings Chico State’s conference record to 10-2, and their home game win streak to 6.

First half:

Chico State scored the first points of the half with a layup, and were able to take an early lead. Cal State Stanislaus struggled to keep up with the ‘Cats, and were trailing by 18 at the end of the half, with the score 42-24.

Chico State was able to create their lead due to a rebounding advantage of nine, with 20 for the half, compared to Cal State Stanislaus’ 11. The Wildcats shot 51.5 percent in the first half, while the Warriors shot only 33.3 percent.

Second half:

Chico State continued their scoring barrage in the second half, and was able to raise their lead to 35 by the end of the game. Cal State Stanislaus managed to improve their field goal percentage to 35.7 in the second half, but could not keep up with the ‘Cats scoring.

The Wildcats were able to expand on their lead due to their increased rebounding, ending with 44 in the game. Cal State Stanislaus only had 23 rebounds in the game. Robert Duncan led the ‘Cats in their victory, earning a double double in the game with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The Wildcats’ next game will be against Cal State East Bay at home on Friday, Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m.
