California State University trustees interviewed Chico State’s final three presidential candidates on Monday, but will not name their selection until Wednesday.
The CSU Board of Trustees questioned the finalists on Monday in a closed session at a Hilton hotel in Long Beach, wrapping up an almost five-months-long secretive search for the next president of Chico State. CSU Assistant Vice Chancellor of Public Affairs Laurie Weidner said she doesn’t know if the trustees have already selected a winner or if they’re going to select one today, during the closed session part of the trustees’ subsequent meeting.
Weidner explained that, in any case, they must disclose their decision at least by Wednesday, the last of three consecutive days of board meetings.
During Wednesday’s open meeting — held inside the Glenn S. Dumke Auditorium at the Chancellor’s Office in Long Beach — the 25-member board will discuss the next president’s future compensation.
In 2015, Paul Zingg, Chico State’s retiring president, reportedly earned $293,643, in addition to $50,000 for housing, according to CSU records.
As of Monday evening, the next Chico State president remains a mystery.
The trustees’ open meeting on Wednesday will be streamed live on the CSU website.
