Where dirt and rubble lie, a local team hopes to launch a restaurant and entertainment center called Galaxies in the North Valley Plaza by the end of the year.

Galaxies’ motto is “good food, great fun.” When Peter Bell, a Chico financial planner, realized the local community had no such place, he and friend Matthew Grimm of the Bay Area set out to turn plans into action.

“Fun for the family” and a “quality place for adults” is how they describe it. Galaxies will offer food and entertainment for all ages, where kids can play and adults can drink.

It is understood to be similar to Dave and Busters, but the team says Galaxies will be of higher quality.

Approvals are already in place. Unlike a sports bar, the building will have separate sections, not interrupting one another. Professionals are working to create the dining, entertainment and beverage experiences.

The team expects to have 75 to 100 staff upon opening the seven-figure project west of Buffalo Wild Wings on East Ave. and Cohasset Rd. A website has yet to be created but the Facebook page is providing updates.
