Wade Bowen, a 14-year-veteran of the Texas Country music scene, is scheduled to take the stage at the El Rey Theater on Saturday, Sept. 24.

Bowen has long served as a prominent figure within the distinguished sub-genre that is Texas Country. Home to artists such as Cross Canadian Ragweed, Granger Smith and Cody Johnson, Bowen’s successes within this elite field are sure to strike a chord among Chico’s country music fans.

Since 2002, he has solidified his place as a permanent resident of regional Texas radio airplay charts, spending most of his time at, or dangerously near the chart summit.

Bowen burst into the mainstream country scene in 2012 with his single “Saturday Night” which topped out at 39 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.

In 2014, his success continued when he joined forces with longtime friend, Randy Rogers, for their album, Hold My Beer, Vol. 1, which stormed to number four on the country album charts.

In an email, Ben Burwell, Production Manager at JMAX Productions, projected Bowen to draw not only country music fans, but a varied crowd of Chico’s music connoisseurs.

He also noted that Bowen’s songwriting genius coupled with his reliability has contributed to high expectations for the show’s turnout, as the venue is expecting roughly four to five hundred concert-goers to pack the El Rey that evening.

Doors will open at 8 p.m. and the show is expected to start at 9 p.m. Tickets can be purchased for $20 online or at one of two locations in downtown Chico: Diamond W Western Wear (181 E 2nd St.) or Blaze N J’s (236 W 9th St.).
