Men’s basketball remains perfect at home

A double-double by junior guard Jalen McFerren Dec. 9 snagged the Wildcats a 96-73 win over Humboldt State.

The team’s competed for the 200th time, but the 23 point win was the largest margin between them in over 20 years. Chico State improved its overall season record to 8-2 and conference record to 2-1 with the win.

McFerren made four shots from behind the arc scored seven points from the free throw line to earn a season-high 21 points in the game. Along with his strong scoring, McFerren also grabbed 13 boards to provide the team with important possessions.

Four other members of the Wildcats roster also finished with double-digit scoring numbers.

Junior foward Isaiah Ellis produced a majority of his points from the paint, as he scored 14 points and blocked a shot. Accompanying Ellis inside was first-year center Justin Briggs, who scored 12 points and grabbed nine boards in his 19 minutes on the court.

Also scoring 12 was junior guard Corey Silverstrom, who scored seven points from the charity stripe and made one shot from three-point range.

The final double-digit scorer was senior guard Robert Duncan, who scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds in 21 minutes. Duncan scored all of his points from inside the line, and made five of seven attempts.
