A former Chico State student and certified diving instructor, James Carlson, died April 13.
“He was a certified instructor with the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) for more than 38 years and owned Valley Scuba in Chico, where he also taught private, semi-private, and group sessions year-round,” according to a public affairs email.
He paid close attention to detail and had a passion for teaching, states the public affairs email.
The University flag will be at half mast Thursday, honoring Carlson.
On Friday, a chapel service will be held at Brusie Funeral Home at 626 Broadway St.
