Chico State Republicans built a “Free Speech Wall” in the gauntlet Wednesday, and drew in a vocal response from students.
Chico State Republicans asked students to write whatever they were feeling or thinking on their wall.
“To encourage people to express themselves, said Jack Breuker, political science major, and a member of the Chico State Republicans, when asked about the purpose of the wall.
The response from students was mixed with a widespread of viewpoints written on the wall including:
All Lives MatterMulticulturalism is not a StrengthWhite privilege does existNothing is free in lifeDemocrats suckThe War on drugs? More like the war on minoritiesRepublicans suffer from group thinking

Breuker said the response was “about what I expected.” “We don’t want the university to become an echo chamber.”
“College Campuses need more of this,” said anthropology major, Katie Prather.
“Free speech is all well and good, but you have to be willing to listen,” said Maya Padilla, political science major.
