Chico woman sentenced for sex trafficking

A woman was sentenced Wednesday after arranging to sell a teenage girl for sex in a Chico motel.

Sentenced to 16 years in prison, Alexis Franklin, a 22-year-old, from Chico had contact with a 15-year-old girl. Being a close family friend, Franklin rented a motel on March 11 and took the victim to dinner.

The teenager felt sleepy afterwards and woke up at the motel with Franklin pressuring her to dress in lingerie.

According to officials, the victim’s next memory was leaving the motel several hours later at around 4 a.m., and calling her mother at Franklin’s apartment.

In a press release sent by Mike Ramsey, Butte County District Attorney, he said that the investigation led detectives to believe that Franklin used websites to showcase the teenager.

“Franklin used ‘dating’ websites to advertise the victim was available for ‘dates’ for a price,” Ramsey said.

Franklin was on probation at the time of the offense for attempting to kill her own baby, in Oregon.

The name of the victim has not been released, because she is a minor.

16 years is a nice long sentence for this awful lady, good job District Attorney Ramsey. Human trafficking is repellent, these types of criminals deserve long sentences.
