Museum exhibit at Chico State gives perspective on vanished icons

The Vanished art gallery is open to give a new perspective on losses and discoveries throughout the past 50 million years on campus.

Four main focuses of Vanished are The Missing Mount Tehama: A Vanished Stratovolcano, A Return to Deer Creek for Ishi, “The last of the Yahi”, Sudden Void: The Fall of the Hooker Oak and A Colombian Mammoth in Bidwell Park: Lost, Found, Then Lost Again.

Exhibits are located at four main points on campus: Arts & Humanities building, Meriam Library, and the lobby of the Valene L. Smith Museum of Anthropology.

The contemporary exhibit encourages art pratices by the Jacki Headley University Art Gallery and hosts five exhibits each year with a juried student exhibition. The gallery is a collaboration of Chico State affiliate’s Byron Wolfe, Sheri Simons, Troy Jollimore, Heather Altfeld, Oliver Hutton and Dr. Rachel Teasdale.

The exhibit will be up until Dec 15. open Monday thru Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
