A registered sex offender was found illegally squatting at the 1200 block of Nord Avenue Thursday.

According to a press release, Allen Starr Brown, 55, will be facing numerous felony charges for failing to properly register prior to his release from prison and after relocating to a new jurisdiction, as well as for possession of methamphetamine.

Brown is currently being held at Butte County Jail pending these charges.

As of now 200 registered sex offenders reside in Chico and are required to register regularly by law.

“The Chico Police Department would like to stress that anyone who has concerns or questions about a possible sex offender in their community can visit the Megan’s Law website, ” said Julia Yarbough, press information officer for CPD. “It is available to anyone with curiosity or suspicion and is easy to use.”
