Wildcat men stay hot, women continue to struggle on the road

The men’s basketball team continued a dominant road series with a 85-58 win over Cal State Los Angeles Saturday night.

Isaiah Ellis had another terrific night scoring 26 points which is a new season-high for the senior. Sophomore Justin Briggs had a career-high 23 points and nine rebounds in one of his biggest games this season.

The Cats’ have now won five in a row with their last three win margins reaching near 20 points.

The team comes back home for the next five games, starting with a much anticipated matchup against Cal State Monterey Bay at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Acker Gym.

The road struggles continued for the Wildcat women as they lost to Cal State Los Angeles Saturday night 61-78 making their road record 2-6.

Senior Whitney Branham led the team with 17 points including three 3-pointers, but ultimately it was not enough against the Golden Eagles to stop the ’Cats in their tracks.

The team hopes to rally back from a tough road series when they come home to face Cal State Monterey Bay at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
