The Chico State’s men basketball team fell short of a victory Thursday night in a 78-88 loss against Stanislaus State.

The Wildcats played a well fought game against the Warriors but ultimately fell short in the final stretch of the game.

With 1:57 left in the game senior guard Corey Silverstrom made a lay up putting the ‘Cats within 9. The team rallied on defense and continued their fight to bring themselves within 6 in the final seconds of the game.

Ultimately the Warriors were able to hold off the Wildcats winning the game.

Silverstrom was the lead scorer for the ‘Cats raking up 29 points in the game. Senior forward, Isaiah Ellis finished behind Silverstrom with 13 points in the game.

The team looks to redeem themselves next Thursday when they take on UC San Diego at 7:30 p.m. in Acker Gym.
