Sirens were heard throughout the Avenues as multiple fire engines, trucks and paramedic units raced to respond to a house fire near the corner of 10th and Oleader avenues around 4 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Brent Jeffries was across the street from the still-burning house as multiple units from the Fire Department attended to the situation. Jeffries, a third-year agricultural business student at Butte College, was alerted to the fire next to his house by joggers heading to a local sports club.
“These two guys started slamming on the door,” Jeffries said. “They said there was a fire next door.”
