Chico State Women’s soccer completed their third straight victory Sunday afternoon over California State University East Bay. Aiden Williams scored her first goal of the season in the win, and Jordan Dukakis delivered the second goal for the Wildcats in the 2-1 victory.

Chico State entered the match coming off a solid win over Cal State Monterey Bay to open their weekend.

The Wildcats first goal came in the final minutes of the first half, after a cross from forward Erin Woods. Aiden Williams found herself in the perfect position to deliver a forceful header in the 43rd minute of action.

Defensively, the team played as excellent as they’ve been playing each time out on the field this year. The efforts of the backline led to their eighth unbeaten match of the year and set up the offense perfectly on Sunday.

Freshman keeper Vic Graham finished with nine saves for a career high.

“Today we played as a whole unit defensively,” senior forward Jamie Ikeda said. “Which helped the offensive components just come naturally.”

Jordan Dukakis came through for the Wildcats in the 55th minute of play to put the team up 2-0. The lead they had early in the second half did not change the game plan for Chico State.

The lead would however be cut short by a goal from Cal State East Bay in the 59th minute off of a set play.

“When they got their goal, we just tried to keep the ball out of our defensive end,” Erin Woods said. “But ultimately we still played our possessive style.”

The Wildcats are back on the road next Friday for their match up against Cal State San Bernardino at 12:30 p.m.

Chico State Men’s soccer traveled to Cal State East Bay Sunday for a 2-0 win over the Pioneers. The match featured the second scored goal from Cooper Renteria on the season and an accidental scored by East Bay in their own net.

The Wildcats confidentiality made their way into East Bay after an unbelievable finish in their last win over Cal State Monterey Bay.

The offense began the match feeling their way through the Pioneer defense until they got into a great rhythm moving the ball and controlling possession. With three minutes remaining in the first half of play, midfielder Cooper Renteria put one in for the Wildcats to close the first half.

During the prime of action in the second half of play, Chico State was gifted with another goal. Cal State East Bay mistakenly kicked the ball in their own net while trying to contain star forward Jeremiah Egujie.

“They played Jeremiah into a space, he ripped a shot across the goal,” junior Ronan McEnroe said. “The East Bay defender tried to clear it but ended up hitting it in their own goal.”

The Chico State backline did another outstanding job in the shutout as well. goalkeeper Damion Lewis finished with four saves in the match for his fourth scoreless outing of the year.

Chico State men’s next matchup will also be at California State San Bernardino on Friday night at 3 p.m.
