The Wildcats basketball season hasn’t gone exactly as they hoped, but they still looked to close out their three seniors careers on a high note.

Unfortunately for Marvin Timothy, Keith Datu, and Nate Ambrosini the Sonoma State Seawolves had other ideas in mind. The Seawolves put up a season-high 98 points behind an NBA-esque 16 three’s.

The Cats rallied late for a comeback behind four three’s from Ambrosini but were unable to get the necessary stops. Despite their best efforts, the game ended 98-88, and the seniors that had been so crucial in the team’s past success finished their final game on a lackluster note.

The Wildcats end their season dropping five in a row and can now set their minds on how they can improve after a disappointing season.

Despite the underwhelming season and final game, the three seniors can close the door on their collegiate basketball careers with their heads held high. For they were each a pivotal part of the Wildcats 2016 CCAA championship campaign along with their Elite Eight appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2017.

Timothy finished the night and his career with his usual dominance in the paint. Registering nine points and eight rebounds before fouling out after 22 minutes.

Ambrosini’s four three-pointers brought his career total to 126, he finished the game with 12 points, four rebounds, an assist and a steal.

Another notable performance was held by Kevin Warren who led all Wildcat scorers with 20 points.

Datu closed out his season cheering his friends on from the bench, a familiar position for him since rupturing his patellar tendon back in December.

With the Wildcats season over and no chance of making the CCAA tournament, the ‘Cats’ will look to begin their offseason training program. The Offseason is a time for player and team growth and is a direct factor in a team’s success.

If the Wildcats hope to return to the high level of play they’ve demonstrated in previous seasons, they’ll have to make the most out of this upcoming offseason.
