A vegetation fire broke out on Neal Road near the Butte County landfill yesterday. The Butte County Cal Fire Unit was able to quickly stop forward progress of the fire.

The fire was reported around 1:30 p.m. It broke out on the north side of Neal Road, about a mile above the Neal Road Recycling and Waste Facility.

Cal Fire sent out four engines and one hand crew, and an additional hand crew that was already in the area responded to the fire as well, according to Rick Carhart, Butte County’s Cal Fire public information officer.

Because of the breezy weather, the fire was unable to move beyond a natural barrier, according to Carhart. Cal Fire was able to stop the forward progression of the fire after 15 minutes.

The fire was mapped by Cal Fire to be four acres long. No buildings were damaged by the flames, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
