Live storm updates: large tree down in Chico

9:48 a.m. Sunday There are new updates regarding PG&E outages in the Butte County area, according to the PG&E outage map:

  • 1,326 customers are without power in the Forest Ranch area, power went out on Friday, the estimated restoration time is 5 p.m. on Sunday
  • 55 customers are without power west of Magalia, power went out on Friday, the estimated restoration time is 4 p.m. on Sunday

10:56 a.m. Saturday Butte County Public Works announced on social media on Saturday that they are responding to a large tree down on River Road in Chico.

The organization has also been working since last night to clear county-maintained roads in the Magalia area. They will then move on to the Stirling City area, crews are also in the Forest Ranch, Cohasset and Butte Meadows areas.

BCPW will be on-call 24 hours a day until the current weather conditions calm and the storm passes.

10:11 a.m. Saturday The PG&E outage map shows that multiple power outages are affecting customers across Butte County:

  • In the east Forest Ranch area, 376 people are without power, there is no estimated restoration time
  • Two outage are affecting those in the Forest Ranch and Nishew areas, one outage is impacting 296 people, and the estimated restoration time is 5 p.m. on Sunday, the second outage is impacting 2,208 people, and there is no estimated restoration time
  • 462 people north of Forest Ranch are without power, the estimated power restoration time is 8 p.m.
  • In the north Magalia area, 1,359 people are without power, there is no estimated restoration time
  • In the Concow area, east of Paradise, 125 people are without power, there is no estimated restoration time

All mentioned power outages were caused by weather conditions, according to the PG&E outage map.

11:36 a.m. Friday

BCSO On social media the Butte County Sheriff’s Office has announced that they have responded to multiple downed trees blocking roads and multiple cars that have gone off of roadways.

Search and rescue units have also been sent to Paradise and Magalia to help with Butte EMS medical calls.

BCSO asks the public to stay home and avoid traveling while Butte County Public Works works to clear roads.

2:08 p.m. I-80 is at a complete standstill over Donner Pass. Extreme winter driving conditions, multiple spin outs, and a lot of drivers are stranded

4:16 p.m. Single vehicle accident in Colfax off of Rollins Lake road. One occupant, no injuries.

According to Truckee Highway Patrol:

  • I-80 remains closed in both directions with no estimated time of reopening.
  • Traffic is currently being held on Highway 50 eastbound at Sand Flat, and westbound in Meyers due to spinouts and slides onto the highway.
  • Highway 20 is closed eastbound in Nevada City.
  • Highway 49 closed in multiple locations.
