  • The men’s bathroom on the second floor of Tehama Hall has a sign titled “All-Gender Restroom Coming Soon!” taped to it. The restrooms are expected to be updated by the fall 2025 semester in Yolo and the Student Services Center will also be under construction. Taken by Grace Stark on April 11.

    Transient locked in Meriam Library bathroom

    Chico Police:

    7:58 a.m.: Missing person reported at Casa Alegre Apartments on West First Avenue. “Reporting party has not heard from son for the past week. A woman called a family member stating his wallet was found at the Amtrak station. Reporting party stated his son will go a week with no communication but he is concerned because of the wallet. Reporting party does not want missing person report, requesting local units to be on the lookout. Father called back, son has been in touch.”

    8:26 a.m.: Subject disturbance in Starbucks on Broadway Street. “Reporting party advising subject came in and asked for water. They gave him water which he promptly threw at a passing waste management truck. Subject outside on his bike. At 1:36 p.m. subject returned, reporting party requesting officer to advise the subject. Suspect stole item and left store.”

    University Police:

    8:24 p.m.: Fire alarm at University Village. “Smoke detector went off. Chico Fire Department en route. Fire department on scene. No further assistance needed, burnt onions.”

    9:36 p.m.: Suspicious subject in Merriam Library 3rd floor bathroom. “Reporting party reporting that a transient is locked in the bathroom again.”
