The Chico State women’s golf team was able to pull out of the Pioneer Shootout in the top three for the fourth time in five outings in 2013-14, finishing in second place.

Chico State entered the final round with a four-shot lead Sunday, but the 37-over par 325 Sunday wasn’t quite enough to claim a victory, as they collectively scored 68-over 644 in the 36-hole event.

The No. 9 ranked team finished with four of five Wildcats placed in the top 15 individually. Spencer Downey ended in fourth place with a 13-over 157, followed by Sarah McComish placing seventh with an overall 15-over par 159. Abbey McGrew and Dani O’Keefe finished tied for 13th carding 20-over 164 in the 36-hole play.

The ‘Cat’s will return to play hosting the InterWest Invitational at Canyon Oaks Country Club March 10-11.
