On Monday students’ classes were interrupted by a power outage at 8:20 a.m.

Soon after the outage occurred Chico State’s official twitter account released a tweet stating that the campus would be closed until 5 p.m.

Some teachers made the best of their situations such as Dr. Carolynn Arpin, a chemistry professor, who substituted a whiteboard and marker for some cement and chalk to finish her lesson.

According to Paul Moreno a PG&E employee, the outage was caused when an insulator failed at the Table Mountain substation.

The outage roughly 80,000 people were without power for three hours until it was restored around 11:30 a.m.

Chico State released an update at 2 p.m. in which they confirmed that campus would remain closed until 5 p.m. Students and Campus employees were instructed to come in if their classes or shifts started after 5 p.m.
