A Chico State geography professor and his students joined the Chico Fire Department to ask the city to help fund a project that would get rid of an invasive, flammable plant growing along Little Chico Creek.

One student was injured during the fire evacuation around 4 a.m. Sunday morning. Chico Fire-Rescue are still determining how the fire started and total damage to the house.
