Sandra Flake, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, has resigned from her post, effective immediately, Chico State President Paul Zingg said in an email obtained by The Orion.

The provost is the leading academic officer and takes charge of the university when the president is away from campus.

Flake, who has held her post at Chico State since April 2007, will be joining faculty in the English department, Zingg said. Zingg will be taking over her duties temporarily as he meets with administrators and the Council of Academic Deans to discuss a timetable for the replacement process.

“I know Sandra enjoys living in Chico and being at Chico State,” he said. “She will continue to make a positive contribution on campus and in the lives of our students, faculty and staff.”
