Man arrested after incident with Whitney Hall

The suspect, according to UPD, took a Macbook Air from a Whitney dorm room.

On Sunday evening, at approximately 11:44 p.m., the Chico State University Police Department received a report from University Housing Resident Advisors describing a male subject standing on the sidewalk of Legion Avenue yelling towards the windows at Whitney Hall, said the news release by UPD.

The subject was identified as Kaine Langstaff and was making statements about possessing ammunition.

UPD officers located Langstaff on West Sacramento Avenue near Tony’s liquor where Langstaff was arrested for the following charges:

  • 25400(a)(2) – Crime of Carrying a Concealed Firearm
  • 25850(c)(1) – Loaded Firearm in Vehicle or Public
  • 25850(c)(2) – Loaded Firearm in Vehicle or Public
  • 30305(a)(1) – Possession of Ammunition by Person Prohibited From
  • Possessing Firearm Due to Conviction or Mental Illness
  • 32310(c) PC – Large Capacity Magazines
  • 11350(a) H&S – Possession of a Controlled Substance

Langstaff possessed a stolen handgun, high capacity magazine with ammunition, and narcotics, according to the news release by UPD.
