The Wildcats continued to showcase their offense with a 66-52 win over Stanislaus State on Saturday afternoon.
Warriors forward MilaSarai Tau started the first quarter with a jumper 30 seconds into the game, making the Wildcats hustle from the start.
Stanislaus led after the first quarter 19-15 with 45% field goals, two blocks, and ten defensive rebounds.
The ‘Cats came back in the second quarter, making three pointers, five assists, and ten rebounds.
Shooting 38.9% from the field and 42.9% from the three point line, the ‘Cats took control in the second quarter, scoring 19 points and carrying a 34-29 lead into halftime.
Although the Warriors made most of their attempts with 26 points in the paint, 25 bench points and 11 points in the third quarter, the ‘Cats continued to hold the lead at 54-38.
The ‘Cats made two three pointers, six free throws, seven defensive rebounds, five fast-break points and 18 points off turnovers, resulting in 20 points, ending the third quarter at 20-11.
In the fourth quarter, the Warriors 22% field-goal rate nearly matched the ‘Cats 25%, accounting for 25 bench points.
But the ‘Cats kept the momentum, totaling 28 points in the paint, with the largest lead of 19 points, 10 second chance points and 18 points off turnovers.
Meadow Aragon, along with guard Kaylie Edge, forward Madison Parry and guard Kamil Reid, were the top performers, contributing efficiently to the team’s .349 shooting from the field. Parry led the pack with 17 points and added eight rebounds. Aragon recorded another double-double, tallying 15 points and 11 rebounds. Edge added nine points, five rebounds, and 3 steals and assists, Reid scored 10 points of her own.
Guard Karissa Hukil scored the Warriors last point with a layup, resulting in the final score 66-52.
The Wildcats improved to an overall 5-2 and 2-0 conference record. Their next game takes place on Friday at 7 p.m. against Saint Martin’s at Acker Gym. Acker Gym grants free entry for students who present their ID card or Canvas home page.
