This story reviews the University Police Department’s daily crime logs. An Orion reporter spoke with Lt. Bryce Davison for more information regarding certain logged events from last week, Jan. 19-24.
Saturday, Jan. 24:
Call Type: Medical Aid
A woman resident in Konkow Hall was found with a small amount of blood on her shirt and pants. She was non-responsive but breathing in the women’s restroom; she had previously been vomiting.
The woman was uncooperative with medical staff, said Davison.
“They tried to find somebody who’s sober and responsible and can kind of stay with her and keep an eye on her through the night,” said Davison, “And that looks like that’s what was done. So then somebody agreed to take on that responsibility and cared for her for the night, while she sobered up.”
Davison said the crime log reviewed with an Orion reporter did not mention the cause of the blood and the log didn’t specify if she was intoxicated by alcohol.
Thursday, Jan. 22:
Call Type: Suspicious Person/Vehicle/Circumstance
A man in the Bell Memorial Union grabbed a woman who was tabling near the belt line of her pants and attempted to pull her closer to him. The woman targeted was fearful and she pulled away from him.
He ended up pulling his cell phone from his pocket and said, “I was just showing you how easy it is to take your phone from your back pocket.”
He walked toward the end of the table and attempted to give another female tabling a hug. The woman was also fearful, Davison said.
The man said, “There was no need to be afraid.”
He ended up walking away. None of the women there wanted to press any charges for the unwanted touching, Davison said.
The man was 5 foot, 7 inches tall to 5 foot, 9 inches tall with dirty blonde hair. He was wearing a blue, button-up shirt, jeans with patches along with blue and white sneakers. He approached the group of young women tabling twice.
UPD Officer Potter took the report on this incident, said Davison.
Thursday, Jan. 22:
Call Type: Missing Person
When an individual came to pick up someone at Enloe Hospital, they were unable to locate the patient upon arriving.
The Chico Police Department was involved with the incident originally. But they were unable to locate the missing patient, so they called UPD for assistance.
UPD was unable to find her.
UPD took a missing persons case report and entered it into MUPS.
Davison said MUPS is a statewide system that allows any law enforcement in the state to know who’s missing. If officers came across the missing woman and checked her name, she would show up in the system.
If the woman is found, Davison said MUPS allows contact for the individual trying to find her.
Monday, Jan. 19:
Call Type: Area Check
An individual wearing a ski mask came through a hole in a fence at University Village at 12:04 p.m. UPD officers at the time did not go out and investigate the incident.
At 8 p.m, an UPD officer went to the hole and conducted an area check. The UPD officer confirmed that there was a hole in the fence. University Housing requested extra patrols throughout the night until Tuesday, when they can repair the fence.
Davison said it is not known when or how the hole in the fence was created.
The information came from the daily crime logs in UPD’s media bulletin. In the week reviewed, there were about 79 crime logs. Not all logs from Jan. 19-24 were featured in this story.
