A man was killed in a train collision on the tracks area of West Sacramento Avenue and N. Cedar Street early this morning.

Chico Police Department arrived on the scene and determined the man was deceased upon arrival. Based on witness interviews, there weren’t any suspicious circumstances leading up to the incident, according to Chico PD’s Facebook post.

The incident occurred at 2 a.m. The remains of the man were taken into custody by the Butte County’s Sheriff Office. Identification of the man is being withheld, but it is confirmed that he was not a Chico State student.

Chico PD was not able to release any information at this time due to an ongoing investigation.
