The Chico State Women’s Basketball team’s season came to an end in the semi-finals of the CCAA tournament. They lost to the number one seed, Cal Poly Pomona, 79-57.
The ’Cats were looking for redemption against the Broncos in their third matchup this season, falling short the previous two times.
The ’Cats ended their season with a 20-10 overall record and 15-7 in conference play, tying the program record with a 14-game win streak.
The ’Cats fought hard in the first half, but found themselves down going into halftime with a score of 43-23, Broncos.
The ’Cats had their strongest performance in the third quarter, scoring 20 points, but it wasn’t enough to take the lead as they entered the fourth quarter still trailing, 63-43.
Despite the end of their season, the ’Cats have plenty to be proud of.
Senior Madison Parry solidified a couple of single-season records. Her 11-point performance pushed her season total to 510 points, placing her in the top five of all time for the Chico State single-season scoring record. Parry also averaged 17 points per game, ranking her in the program’s top 10 for single-season scoring average.
Head Coach Brian Fogel became the winningest coach in program history, surpassing Fran Coslet in his 18th year as head coach.
The ’Cats also had three athletes awarded all-CCAA honors. Senior Forwards Meadow Aragon and Madison Parry were named first-team All-CCAA and sophomore guard Kamil Reid was named second-team All-CCAA.
The end of the season will also mark the end of the college careers of the ’Cats four seniors, Jiana Creswell, Madison Parry, Meadow Aragon and Kaylie Edge.
