This story reviews the University Police Department’s daily crime logs. An Orion reporter spoke with Lt. Bryce Davison for more information regarding certain logged events from the weeks of Feb. 26 to March 4.
Saturday, Feb. 28:
Call Type: Area Check
A woman was under the bridge when UPD Officers arrested her for a felony arrest warrant.
Once they arrested her for the warrant, UPD started preparing to transport her to jail. They went through her property and found narcotics.
She was with a group of individuals under the bridge when UPD officers arrived. UPD was following their usual routine of checking under the bridges near the Nord Avenue area since there had been fires in the past, said Davison.
Call Type: Any civil problem
A cable machine broke and hit someone in the face at the WREC at about 5:30 p.m.
UPD was requested to do a police report and get footage of the incident. UPD officers arrived at the scene and documented the incident.
Sunday, March 1:
Call Type: Disturbance
A male was screaming, “Please don’t kill me,” in front of the Performing Arts Center by the Chico State sign.
UPD officers responded to a 911 call and conducted a welfare check. They evaluated the individual and “it looks like he was doing alright,” Davison said.
No medical need or any further action was needed from UPD, said Davison.
The individual decided to walk toward the Greyhound station and UPD officers left.
Call Type: Medical Aid
A female had a concussion from playing pool in the lounge of Mechoopda Hall.
UPD arrived and the female was then transported by medical personnel.
Tuesday, March 3:
Call Type: Suspicious Person/Vehicle/Circumstance
A bystander reported that a man was following a female in a black car.
The bystander said the subject claimed the car was always following her on campus.
The bystander didn’t have any information about who the female was, but wanted to inform UPD of the situation.
UPD officers did an area check looking for the female, but they were unable to find her.
The information came from the daily crime logs in UPD’s media bulletin. Not all logs from Feb. 26 to March 4 were featured in this story.
