Between paying tuition, buying groceries and planning for the future, many Chico State students rely on campus resources to help make college more manageable.
Students at Chico State have access to a variety of resources designed to support them academically, financially and personally. From financial aid to food assistance, these services aim to help students navigate college life and succeed both in and out of the classroom.
One of the most commonly used resources is the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office, located in the Student Services Center. The office helps students cover the cost of tuition through grants, scholarships, loans and work-study opportunities. Students can visit in person or access services through their student portal. For many students, financial aid plays a major role in making college more affordable.
“Financial aid has been really helpful for me,” said Taylor Lorschider, a junior. “It takes a lot of stress off knowing I have help paying for school.”
Chico State also offers academic support through advising and the Career Center, both located in the Student Services Center. Students can schedule advising appointments through their student portal to help stay on track for graduation and explore majors. The Career Center offers support with resumes, internships and job searches, and appointments can be booked online or in person.
“I go to advising to help me pick my classes,” said Kiera Jarvis, a junior. “They helped me figure things out.”
In addition to academic and financial resources, the university provides support for students’ basic needs. The Hungry Wildcat Food Pantry, located in the Student Services Center, offers free groceries to students and does not require an appointment during open hours.
“I think the food pantry is really important,” said Ryan Benson, a junior. “It’s nice knowing that it’s available.”
Other resources on campus include the Basic Needs program, which offers services like emergency housing assistance and help applying for CalFresh, as well as the Accessibility Resource Center, also located in the Student Services Center. Students can schedule appointments online to receive accommodations and support.
Chico State provides a wide range of resources aimed at helping students succeed. Whether it’s financial support, academic guidance or access to food and basic needs, these services play an important role in supporting students throughout their college experience.
